Woca Lye - Antique, 2.5-Liter
Antique Lye is also a low-corrosive liquid, based on sodium hydroxide, but without any pigments. Due to the permanent changing of the color of the wood itself in many wood species, colors may be achieved by preparing a wood floor with Antique Lye that are impossible to obtain with stains or dies.
WOCA WOOD LYE TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS:
WOCA Wood Lye is non-corrosive.
Before applying lye, the wood floor must be sanded, clean and dry.
Stir the lye to break up the color pigments and shake well before and during use.
Wear latex gloves during the application procedure. Wash skin and eyes with soap and warm water should they come in contact with the wood lye.
Do not apply lye across the wood grain! Lye applied this way will leave streaks as the lye has white or gray pigments in the mix. The streaks will have to be removed before the oiling process.
Use at least 1 liter of lye for every 100 sq. ft. of flooring.
* Pour a small amount of lye into a paint tray or other useable container.
* With a nylon brush or roller, apply the wood lye in even layers along the wood grain until the floor has been completely coated.
* Clean the work tools with water.
* Allow the floor to dry for a minimum of 8 hours at 70 degrees.
The lye treated floor is now ready to be finished with WOCA oil products.
The lye treated floor does not need to be prepped with WOCA Wood Cleaner before applying oil.
